Day 01Arrival in Cochin

Arrive in Cochin by international flight in the morning. You will be warmly welcomed with a traditional ‘Swagat’ ceremony and escorted to your hotel for check-in.

Cochin, a cosmopolitan city and Kerala’s commercial hub, boasts a rich heritage shaped by centuries of trade with the Middle East, Europe, and beyond. Here, you’ll find a unique blend of cultures reflected in Portuguese churches, Jewish synagogues, Chinese fishing nets, mosques, temples, and colonial architecture.

Spend the afternoon at leisure to unwind and explore on your own. In the evening, witness the mesmerizing Kathakali dance—Kerala’s classical art form that tells ancient stories through expressive gestures and vibrant costumes.

Day 02Cochin to Munnar (150 km / 4 hours)

After breakfast, embark on a half-day guided tour of Cochin. Explore key landmarks including St. Francis Church (India’s oldest European church), the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese, the historic Jew Town with its famous Jewish Synagogue dating back to 1568, and the bustling spice markets bursting with exotic aromas. Don’t miss the iconic Chinese fishing nets lining the waterfront.

In the afternoon, drive to Munnar through breathtaking landscapes dotted with waterfalls and misty hills. Known as the “Queen of Hill Stations,” Munnar sits at 1600 meters above sea level, where three mountain streams converge. Once a British summer retreat, it is now famous for sprawling tea plantations and tranquil mountain scenery.

Day 03Munnar Exploration

After breakfast, set out on a half-day tour of Munnar’s spectacular tea estates—the highest in the world—stretching over lush hills like a vibrant green carpet. Visit Eravikulam National Park (closed in January and February), home to the rare Nilgiri Tahr mountain goat, and soak in panoramic views of the rolling hills.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure, perfect for hiking, exploring local markets, or simply soaking in the refreshing mountain air.

Day 04Munnar to Periyar (160 km / 4 hours)

Depart Munnar for the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled by a serene lake. This renowned reserve is a hotspot for spotting diverse wildlife including elephants, tigers, leopards, bison, and numerous bird species.

Optional: Enjoy a tranquil boat cruise on Periyar Lake, providing excellent opportunities to observe animals in their natural habitat.

Day 05Periyar to Kumarakom (145 km / 3.5 hours)

Start your day with an exhilarating elephant safari in Periyar, followed by a visit to a spice plantation to experience the scents and flavors of Kerala’s spices. Another boat ride on Periyar Lake can be enjoyed before you drive towards Kumarakom.

Located on the tranquil Vembanad Lake, Kumarakom is a lush village surrounded by coconut groves, paddy fields, and mangroves. Known for its bird sanctuary and rich biodiversity, it offers a peaceful retreat into Kerala’s famous backwaters.

Day 06Kumarakom to Alleppey – Houseboat Experience

After breakfast, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, home to a variety of migratory and resident birds including cormorants, teals, night herons, and storks.

Later, transfer to the jetty and board a traditional houseboat (Kettuvallam). Cruise the scenic Vembanad Lake and surrounding backwaters, soaking in the tranquil environment and picturesque villages. Enjoy freshly prepared local meals on board while observing daily life along the water. Relax as the houseboat meanders through lagoons and canals towards Alleppey.

Day 07Alleppey to Kovalam (185 km / 4 hours) via Trivandrum

Disembark the houseboat at Alleppey and drive south to Kovalam. En route, visit Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), Kerala’s capital city. Explore the Padmanabha Swami Temple, a magnificent Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, famous for its intricate architecture and sacred tank.

Visit the Napier Museum, housing a rich collection of archaeological artifacts and traditional art, and the Sri Chitra Art Gallery showcasing masterpieces from Indian artists, including Raja Ravi Varma. Also, see the beautiful Horsley Palace.

Continue to Kovalam, a famed beach destination with golden sands and Ayurvedic wellness resorts.

Enjoy two full days at leisure in Kovalam. Relax on the pristine beaches, indulge in rejuvenating Ayurvedic treatments, or explore local markets and seaside cafes.

Day 10Kovalam to Trivandrum – Departure
