15-Day Roopkund Trekking Adventure

Overview:
Set out on an unforgettable high-altitude adventure to Roopkund, the mystical glacial lake located at 5,029 meters in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, nestled in the shadow of the Trishul massif. Roopkund, famously known as “Mystery Lake”, holds centuries-old human skeletons believed to date back to the Paleolithic era, drawing adventurers, historians, and trekkers alike.

This scenic and challenging trek begins from Lohajung, winding through enchanting oak and conifer forests, alpine meadows like Bedni Bugyal, and high-altitude campsites like Bhagwabasa, offering surreal views of Himalayan peaks such as Trishul and Nanda Ghunti. The journey is also enriched with rare flora like Brahma Kamal, sacred sites, and vibrant cultural encounters in remote Himalayan villages.

Day 1Arrival in Delhi (India)

Arrive at New Delhi’s international airport. After a warm traditional welcome (Swagat), our team will escort you to your hotel for check-in and an overnight stay.

Day 2Delhi Sightseeing

Start your day with breakfast and a leisurely morning. Later, enjoy a guided tour of Delhi, including Old Delhi’s Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Raj Ghat, followed by visits to India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar, the President’s House, and Lotus Temple. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 3Delhi to Haridwar (200 km / 5 hrs)

Drive to Haridwar, the sacred gateway to Uttarakhand’s pilgrimages. After hotel check-in, explore temples like Mansa Devi, Daksha Mahadev, and Sapt Rishi Ashram. In the evening, witness the spellbinding Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. Overnight in Haridwar.

Day 4Haridwar to Mundoli (285 km / ~10 hrs)

Begin your mountain journey with a scenic drive to Mundoli (2,134 m), the trek base. Stop for lunch en route and arrive by evening. Dinner and overnight stay in a guesthouse or tents.

Day 5Trek from Mundoli to Bekhal Tal (8 km / 5–7 hrs)

Trek begins post-breakfast. Ascend through forests and cross Lohajung Pass (2,250 m) to reach Bekhal Tal, a peaceful lake nestled in a beautiful landscape. Camp overnight near the lake.

Day 6Bekhal Tal to Wan via Brahm Tal (10 km / 6–8 hrs)

Trek through highland forests and alpine glades, passing Brahm Tal, another serene lake. Arrive at Wan village (2,340 m) by evening. Overnight stay in tents or guesthouse.

Day 7Wan to Bedni Bugyal (3354 m)

Today’s trek takes you uphill through thick forests to reach Bedni Bugyal, one of the most stunning high-altitude meadows in India. Enjoy incredible mountain views. Camp overnight.

Day 8Rest Day at Bedni Bugyal

Spend the day soaking in the natural beauty. Explore the rolling meadows, photograph the scenery, or simply relax. Overnight in tents.

Day 9Bedni Bugyal to Bhagwabasa (7 km / 3–4 hrs)

Trek through rugged alpine terrain to reach Bhagwabasa (3,800 m approx). En route, witness diverse Himalayan flora including the mystical Brahma Kamal. Camp overnight.

Day 10Trek to Roopkund & Return to Bhagwabasa (8–10 hrs)

Today’s the highlight! Ascend early to Roopkund Lake (5,029 m). At the edge of the glacial lake, observe the centuries-old human skeletons scattered around. Take in panoramic views of Trishul (7,120 m) and Nanda Ghunti (6,310 m). Return to Bhagwabasa for overnight stay.

Day 11Trek Back to Wan (6–8 hrs)

Descend back through meadows and forests to Wan village, retracing the route. Packed lunch en route. Dinner and overnight in guesthouse or tents.

Day 12Trek from Wan to Mundoli (6–8 hrs)

Complete your final trekking day with a descent to Mundoli via a different route. Rest and overnight at a guesthouse or campsite.

Day 13Mundoli to Haridwar

After breakfast, drive back to Haridwar. En route, stop for lunch. In the evening, revisit Har Ki Pauri for another mesmerizing Ganga Aarti. Overnight in a Haridwar hotel.

Day 14Haridwar to Delhi (200 km / ~5 hrs)

After breakfast, visit Chandi Devi Temple via cable car and explore Mansa Devi shrine. Post-lunch, proceed to Delhi. Check-in at hotel for a short rest. Overnight stay.

Day 15Departure from Delhi
