Marbel Palace

Head Next to Marble Palace is a palatial nineteenth-century mansion in North Kolkata. It is one of the best-preserved and most elegant houses of nineteenth-century Calcutta. The mansion is famous for its marble walls, floors, and sculptures, from which it derives its name.

 

Indian Coffee House

The birthplace of Calcutta Tramways.

The Nonapukur Workshop was established in that year 1990, from where the track connection up to Wellesley Street opened via Elliott Road, after which the Park Street branch closed. Now the major repairing of the horse, steam and electric trams was started at Nonapukur.

 

South Park Street Cemetery

Day 3Departure from Kolkata

Chandannagar 

Dupleix Palace is a great place to begin to get an idea of the French legacy of Chandanpur. Today Dupleix Palace is a museum and on display are cannons used in the the Carnatic wars, artifacts and furniture of French governor generals and numerous other relics.

 

Patal Bari 

We visit a beautiful mansion which is partly submerged in the Hooghly river. Patal Bari literally means the underground house. Two striking features of this Mansion are the beautifully carved wooden sunshades and water outlets. During its hey days important visitors to Chandan Nagar used to grace this home, Rabindranath Tagore the national poet and Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar to name a couple.

 

The Strand 

The Strand has the best collection of colonial buildings. The highlight of Stand is the Durgacharan Rakshit Ghat an incredibly beautiful pavilion adorned with imposing columns and arresting stucco work built in honor of Durgacharan, a recipient of the Legion d’honneur of France. Built in 1920s in honor of Durgacharan Rakshit,. The elegant looking pavilion consists of slender columns with decorative stucco works consisting of elephant’s head and floral design.

 

Shrine Basilica Bandel 

This is a two storied church with twin towers and a magnificent statue of Jesus. Built in 1884 , the highlights of this church are the beautiful stained glasses, and coloured reliefs of Jesus carrying the cross on the walls.

 

Bandel 

The Church was built in 1660 and is dedicated to Nostra Senhora di Rozario, popularly known as Our Lady of the Rosary. Violet blossoms among the vintage tombstones add a picturesque look to the surroundings. The most moving statue in the complex is that of Mother of Sorrows in marble sitting with the body of dead Jesus on her lap. It is a tear jerker

 

Serampore 

The Rajbari is a grand mansion of the Goswami family, the richest in the history of Serampore. They were invited by King of Gaur to settle in Bengal and build a business on very favorable terms. Built in 1820, this mansion used to be the most opulent residence in the neighborhood. 

 

Serampore College 

In the 19th century, Serampore was famous for great educational institutions. William Carey founded the Serampore College which was the first University in Bengal. Samachar Darpan, the first Bengali newspaper was published on 23 May 1818 from a Baptist Mission Press located here.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple
Start your day at around 8:00 in the morning with your guide picking you up from your hotel. The first stop on the tour is the Dakshineshwar temple, one of the most revered temples of Kolkata dedicated to goddess Kali. This 18th-century temple is an architectural marvel with a height of 100 ft and a massive courtyard

 

Belur Math
The second spot on the itinerary is the Belur Math temple which is separated from the earlier one by river Ganga. Take a fun ferry ride like a local to reach this site which attracts people of a different faith from across the world! The temple is a place for pilgrimage for people of different religious faith and exudes a sense of peace like nowhere else!

 

Maghen David synagogue
After this, take the ferry back to reach your car and head towards your next destination, the Magen David Synagogue. One of the largest synagogues around Asia and an important site tracing the origin of Jews in Kolkata, the place will have you swooning with its architecture and the intricacies.

 

Parashnath Jain Temple
Next on the line is the pristine and utterly stunning Parasnath Digambar Jain temple. One of the most revered shrines for people of Jainism faith, this temple has a scenic appearance to itself with beautiful garden decorated with glass mosaics and silver European styled deities. Don’t forget to see the lamp which has been perpetually burning since the inception of the temple, i.e 1867!

St. John’s Church
Before proceeding to your last stop, stop for a hearty Bengali lunch (at your own expense) at one of the best-known local restaurants and once you’re through proceed further to your last stop at the St John’s Church. One of the first few buildings erected by the East India Company, the Church is also called as the Stone Church built in the Neoclassical architectural style with its interiors decorated with beautiful wood carvings and marble bass relief work. The Church also holds many important memorials including Job Charnock, the founder of Kolkata. End your tour with a flavoursome masala chai in earthen cups with your guide before the driver drops you back at your hotel.

Shakti Peeth Kalighat
Travel further, to the next destination, the Kalighat temple. One of the 52 Shakti peeths (places where the various parts of Sati’s body are believed to have fallen, in the course of Shiva’s Rudra Tandava) of India. An extremely important pilgrimage site this temple is dedicated to goddess Kali and attracts a huge number of devotees around the year. Explore this site as your guide acquaints yours further with Hindu mythology.

Birla Temple
Conclude your day with a visit to the serene Birla Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna and built with white marble. Take some time for reflection and tranquillity amidst the temple’s peaceful surroundings before wrapping up your day.

Kolkata, the City of Joy has always been a cultural hub and a bibliophile’s haven, with independent and specialty bookstores, traces of Soviet Russia, heritage trams, and vintage charm that is reflected in the quaint old houses which have stood the test of time. Day 1: Kolkata to Shantiniketan
Shantiniketan is approximately 3 hours drive from Kolkata. Upon arrival start your day with a visit to the Visva Bharati University, founded by Rabindranath Tagore. Explore the beautiful campus, art galleries, and museums showcasing Tagore’s works. Check in to hotel and break for lunch. Then head to Khoai Mela, an open-air market where local artisans sell their handicrafts. You can shop for unique souvenirs and interact with the talented craftsmen.
Later in the evening, Explore the local markets in Shantiniketan, such as Sonajhuri Haat, where you can shop for local handicrafts, textiles, and jewelry. Later Visit the Amar Kutir, a cooperative society promoting local handicrafts. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the peaceful surroundings and shop for authentic handicrafts. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Shantiniketan to Kolkata
After breakfast, check out and visit to the Tagore’s Ashram, where Rabindranath Tagore lived and worked. Explore the serene surroundings and learn about Tagore’s life and philosophy. Later visit the Deer Park, a tranquil spot to relax and enjoy nature. Take a leisurely walk around the park and spot deer roaming freely. Return back to Kolkata. Check in at hotel and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 1: Depart Kolkata early morning to arrive Murshidabad by Noon. Today you will be engaged with an experience of the great betrayal of Murshidabad, the Old capital of Bengal. Visit spots like Nimak Haram Dewori, Tomb of Siraj-ud-Daulah, House of Jagat Seth and Katra Masjid. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 2: After breakfast at hotel. Check out and visit the Hazarduari Palace Museum, Site of Battle of Plassey and the Grand Imambara. Return back to Kolkata.

Day 1:

8:00A.M. Depart for Three hours and a half drive to Godhkhali end of the road, Breakfast Tea Break on the way.

1:30P.M.: Reaching Hotel, which is located just opposite to the Sundarban Tiger Reserve surrounded by the village, forests, breeze of the river, the place where you can enjoy a peaceful and pleasure weekend.

2P.M.: Lunch.

4.00P.M.: A short introduction via boat to the Sundarban Bird Jungle with the lovely sunset view which is more mesmerizing after the ‘sunsets’ we will back to the Hotel at 6 pm.

7:00P.M.: Local folk dance followed by complimentary snacks Tea / Coffee.

10P.M.: Dinner and Night stay at Hotel.

 

Day 2:

07.00A.M.: Morning we will start Sundarban delta Safari through boat.

08.30A.M.: Start Jungle Safari guided by our Govt tourist Guide at Sajnekhali Tiger Reserve.

09.30A.M.: We will start our thrilling boat Safari through various rivers, Islands & small Creeks covering Pirkhali, SarakKhali, Gazikhali, Deul Varani, Banbib Varani. Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower In this Tiger Reserve area for our share of viewing animals like spotted deer, crocodile, wild boar, snakes, water monitor lizard, different types of birds and also Royal Bengal Tiger ( if you are lucky).

12.30A.M.: Visit Do-Banki Tiger Reserve Area & Watch Tower. The 896 meter canopy walk at Do Banki gives you an opportunity to view wildlife from a netted enclosure.

01.30P.M.: A Visit to Panchamukhni 5 River junction, Tiger Reserve Area & Watch Tower through Boat.

4 to 5.00P.M.: Sundarban jungle tour end head back for Kolkata.
